LISTENING COMPREHENSION - a sonic mandala

This piece was developed for the Heroines of Sound Festival and performed as a 360 degrees spatial sound movement at Radialsystem, Berlin. The composition revisits and combines archive recordings of four (out of originally seven) voices from the radio production „Heimatgefühle“ (Deutschlandfunk Kultur 2021). Previously cast and broadcast for their ‚foreign accents‘, the voices now sound in their original mother tongues. While circulating in the space of Radialsystem as sonic artifacts accompanied by field-recordings („Can you swim?“) and live-driven gongs, each voice describes its apartment.
