Sarajevo Sonic Explorations - Deep Listening Workshop and Performance with Ira Hadžić

LISTEN TO THE ALBUM: HERE

The project "Noise 'n Silence - Sarajevo Sonic Explorations" emerged from a desire to engage with and explore the sonic contrasts and current realities of Sarajevo. It invites participants to discover new ways of perceiving, creating, and interpreting the sounds of everyday life, fostering a space for polyphony as a powerful catalyst for social change.

At the heart of the project are two fundamental questions:
1. Can our listening serve as a platform for our voices to be heard?
2. Can our voices create a space for our listening to be acknowledged?

Over the course of a four-day workshop, we embark on a process of exploration, listening both individually and collectively to the acoustics of the internal and external spaces we inhabit—our minds, breaths, bodies, as well as the architecture, city, and world around us. In a playful, non-linear, and fragmented manner, we compose a performance that incorporates spoken and vocal expressions, along with movement. This performance is showcased on the final day of the project, encouraging interaction between participants and the audience.

"Noise 'n Silence - Sarajevo Sonic Explorations" is a non-commercial, community-oriented initiative, realized through a collaboration between sound artist Ira Hadžić, the artist platform Station3 and the gallery Collegium Artisticum.
